One of my very favorite summer activities besides lounging at the beach? Summer picnics. Whether it’s a picnic in the park or a picnic on the beach, the act of picnicking means long, lazy summer days. In New York, there’s no better place to picnic than in Manhattan’s Central Park, where groups of family and friends pepper the park’s many lawns. In Brittany, I love nothing more than an evening picnic with my extended family at Cap Coz beach. There, the sun doesn’t set until nearly midnight, allowing us to prolong our day at the beach with good food and wine. But, no matter where I am, the question always becomes: what should I pack that will both travel well and serve a crowd? I have go-to dishes like tabouleh, summery quinoa salad (recipe to come!), and quiche, but I’m always looking for new ideas. So, to inspire your next outdoor feast, here are a few picnic-perfect recipes. What’s your go-to picnic dish?

Basil Lemonade from And Baby Cakes Three

Aw thanks for the mention! I love mixing grilled vegetables with feta and olives, tossed in a little balsamic and olive oil for a picnic- always good with fresh pita or baguette.
That sounds delicious! I’ll have to try it for my next picnic.
I love tabouleh too, and olives, cheese, baguette and cold chicken. If you can grill some burgers, all the better. Watermelon for dessert. Also a tomato salad with herbs and vinaigrette. Hurray for summer picnics – or picnics any time of year!
I’m coming to your picnic! It sounds like a feast.
Your blog is beautiful! I added it to my blog roll.
